Summer Appleby is an Art Therapist working with adolescents in Murfreesboro, TN. Summer believes that humanity as a culture has an unfortunate record of devaluing human experiences and therefore their emotional responses to them. That society is either telling us ‘Humans feel too much’ or ‘we feel too little’ and even telling us to keep our feelings secret to conform to an agenda that is contradictory of basic human functioning. Then you factor in your gender, sex, ethnicity, religion and all the stereotypes that accompany them. Even as a cisgender, heterosexual white female, Summer has struggled with the “females get too emotional” slander. As an Art Therapist, Summer’s initial outlet is to create responses. Through her own experiences the past few years, she has created art focusing on facial expression, body language and the feelings she felt in her core. Summer focuses on artistic topics to include but are not limited to: COVID19, Grief, Scandals, Everyday Stress, Clients, Diagnoses and Religion. Through these drawings, mixed media and sculpted pieces, she has channeled these feelings as emotional energy through each mark, motion and fold of the media. Her hope and goal for her work is to open the conversation of emotion and normalize all reactions a viewer might have to a piece through discussion.
Beauty can be found everywhere; we just have to train our eyes - and our minds - to look for it.

Layers of shadow and depth play together in my work to examine my subjects up close. Primarily a watercolorist, I do venture into mixed media at times, reworking watercolor with colored pencil or pen and ink. to explore texture, pattern and light. I am heavily inspired by nature and my love of gardening. I get excited about detail in the natural world and I hope to inspire others to look closely at the small intricacies that make our planet so beautiful.

Pat Blankenship is the author of two children’s picture books, Pensive Penelope Thinks About Words and Listening Lucas Listens to Letters. A third children’s picture book, Marvelous Margot Makes Art is in illustration and expected to be released later this year. Pat’s books celebrate the hard work kids do as they work through developmental milestones like finding their voices, using their imaginations, and learning to create the art of language and color. Illustrated by fine artist and illustrator Linden Eller, the images offer amusing insights into the stories as well as clues to the joyful impact of having adults celebrate, respect and listen to their hard-working kids! A former attorney, yoga teacher, and public speaker, Pat spends her days flying around the hemisphere to hang out with her far-flung adult kids and her hard-working granddaughters!
As an artist, I believe that my creations are not just mere representations of reality, but rather an opportunity to explore and understand different perspectives. Whether it's a painting or a film, my work serves as a medium that facilitates a personal and internal journey for both myself and my audience, provoking thought and inspiring new ideas. For me, even the most mundane objects, such as a streetlight, can become a source of inspiration and a lesson to be learned. As a citizen of the world, I strive to create art that promotes equality, empowerment, contemplation, and love for all. My art is a vessel that transports us beyond our physical reality and into the realm of imagination, where we can connect with each other and experience the world in new and meaningful ways.”

I have a desire to inspire others to want to know more about Jesus Christ primarily through art. My medium of choice is acrylic on canvas. God is in the beauty of everything around us and I don’t have to paint a cross for you to know the love of God. (But crosses are awesome!) I pray that every piece I paint touches someone’s heart and that there is significance behind each one. I don’t want to just paint a pretty picture. I hope that when looking at the gift God has blessed me with, you are blessed. His Daughter = God’s Daughter In the Red Dress= Covered in the blood of Jesus

For as long as I can remember I have been creating something; whether it was drawing in my parent’s phone book as a kid or painting on a canvas or the walls of a client's home; I explored the opportunities that being creative might offer. Most of my work is rooted in surrealism. I incorporate the human form in peculiar circumstances and simplified landscapes that often include animals that have a connection to me or are symbolic in some way to the message or feeling I’m trying to convey. Although I attended college for ceramics and metal casting, my medium of choice most often is oil on canvas. I prefer to work on a larger scale as it allows me to create vast open spaces with smaller fine details that force the viewer to get up close and personal with each piece and I encourage that close connection. Working in oil allows me the ability to build up layers and ideas as they evolve and change. The majority of my work is a reflection of my spiritual connection to my creator and the experiences of living and growing in that relationship daily.
Artist Statement
I enjoy capturing the world around me in oils. I like to capture a literal version of what I see and sometimes just the mood. Through creating art I have been so blessed to meet so many wonderful people, this is what drives me to keep creating. I love the connection to a stranger that can be achieved through artwork.

A portrait photographer all of her adult life, NY native Diane Marsella has moved from capturing reality to recreating it. Through digital photography, she creates abstract photos from everyday subject matter. “I don’t look for abstract shapes when I shoot. Instead, I find them hidden within the image.” Her abstract photographs are characterized by use of bold color and intertwining shapes that have been “coaxed” from the original photo. By having no pre-conceived notion about how the finished image will look, Marsella is free to guide her creations to self-awareness through use of Photoshop. Marsella holds a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts (Hofstra University, NY) and has been a member of the Techspressionism community since 2020. Now living in the Nashville, TN area with her two sons, Marsella continues to recreate reality from her unique point of view.

Jewelry is as unique as you are. I see jewelry as a form of expression for the wearer. Something to make your look unique. My journey into jewelry design began when I couldn’t find jewelry for myself that said me. That spoke of who I am. I am not a tiny petit simple gold chain person. I’m bold and want my jewelry to be a statement. I find my design voice in the materials I use. Found objects, untraditional metals/wire. Unique stones and findings. I love to combine these into a statement of a unique person, with bold individual style. I make each piece once. There is only one you and you deserve an exclusive design.

I love the feel and tactile experience of paper and fabrics. I am a journal keeper, both written and artful. I have put together books for myself for many years before deciding to share them with other. Bookbinding is a great passion of mine, there is always something new to learn and try. I am a maker, when not making life becomes sad thus I seek out ways that I can share my books with others. Many times while binding a book I just know ‘this one belongs to someone already’, I show up and sure enough that someone finds ‘their’ book. Artists, craftsmen, makers must be able to empty the cup before it can fill again, this is what makes us happy.

I'm haunted by the fact that we actively try to hide the worst parts of ourselves and keep our worst moments from being seen. I'm especially haunted by how much I do this. Art is a way that I can express this frustration and show myself for who I really am, and give reverence and empathy to our worst moments. I like using simple shapes, rough lines, and faded colors in ink and digital mediums to try to make this happen. I'm also drawn to the aesthetic of anthropomorphism, and I use this style in my art a lot. I appreciate your consideration!

I work in many mediams. Yarn, pencil, paint, alcohol marker, fabric, thread, wire. I enjoy seeing what I am capable of doing and how much I can improve by continuing. What I make may not seem to be a one-of-a-kind, but it always has my glamour, in the little imperfections and mistakes. I understand that my work is valuable because it cannot be recreated by a machine; crochet is as intricate as it is beautiful. I take pride in my self improvement and I love how I can make something wildly different from the thing it started out as. "Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection." Mark Twain
